Two years ago, while some candidates cozied up to Sam Bankman-Fried, I strongly warned about the dangers of crypto. After, SBF spent $500,000 to defeat me. Today, SBF was just found guilty for fraud & I’m running for Congress to ensure this never happens again. Learn more ⬇️: https://t.co/YGZzp6g5Rf

@Strikeslip 61% of our power comes from fossil fuels & current demand is exceeding growth in renewables. If it’s placing burdens on our grids, then there’s an increased demand for fossil fuels. Every EV we put on the road last year was offset by the carbon generated just by crypto mining.

@MARINHAZz @HawkeyeFan1983 Just to be clear, there is almost zero regulation of this industry in any capacity but I should go to a cryptocurrency conference & there they’ll explain how wonderful & legitimate it is & how much better it could be if not for policymakers who haven’t really made any policy yet?

@MARINHAZz @HawkeyeFan1983 From the fine folks at Bitcoin Magazine and Coin Telegraph 😂 By the way, I said China banned it, I didn’t say everyone followed the law or didn’t use a VPN. They’ve still massively curtailed bitcoin mining there.

@MARINHAZz @HawkeyeFan1983 China kicked them out and Texas’ grid was not in any way stabilized because of bitcoin miners. Not in real time. Not in any time. Texas paid millions to several different industries to reduce power consumption. Guess who pays for that?

@MARINHAZz @HawkeyeFan1983 I work in green job creation. Proof of work crypto mining is not in any way green at this time. Replace bitcoin with asbestos or PCB’s in your above statement and you’ll understand better.

@MARINHAZz @HawkeyeFan1983 1. Do you think an industry that is currently lobbying Congress to be regulated like fruit not currency is going to replace the entire global financial sector? 2. Did you think a chart created by a self styled “Bitcoin Evangelical”would be an accurate graphical representation?

@LegacyBitcoin I’m currently an elected official. It would appear your guessing skills are about as astute as your overall knowledge on this topic. I’ve written a white paper on pow crypto mining & it’s environmental impacts if you would like actual information on the topic & not industry spin

@MARINHAZz @HawkeyeFan1983 If the US were to ban bitcoin mining would bitcoin go up or down? What they’re saying is totally fair and needed because proof of work mining is so damaging to our environment and long term goals that they’re threatening to shut it down if they don’t get their act together.

@MARINHAZz @HawkeyeFan1983 Basically, being told by the administration you’re using more energy than Sweden and you’re going to make us miss our climate goals so we may just shut you down entirely doesn’t scream bullish on bitcoin to me.

@MARINHAZz @HawkeyeFan1983 The White House specifically targets bitcoin mining for its massive energy consumption. Proof of work crypto mining entails massive energy consumption that exceeds the yearly energy uses of many developed countries. That info is available but not in crypto fanboy publications.

@LegacyBitcoin Suggesting a total ban of proof of work bitcoin mining unless they decrease their ludicrous energy consumption is a strong stance. My reading comprehension and in-depth knowledge on this very topic are just fine.

FTX Crypto, a corporation, is not investing in Conole’s campaign to avoid regulation, they’re investing to specifically avoid SEC regulation. When Conole says he’s for regulation, he means he wants crypto regulated like a bundle of fruit. Seriously.

@sonupsales I understand the thought process but disagree. Your word & your values mean something. But also, this isn’t to beat a Republican. The money is being used against a Democratic candidate that understands the effects of proof of work crypto mining on our water ways & our climate.

@patobriennyusa Genuine concern about energy consumption of proof of work crypto mining & environmental impacts. It’s also rife with as many scams & frauds as an old spam folder. It should be SEC regulated. Open to having my mind changed but the article above does not paint a pretty picture.

@OUTsyracuse @FDConole @nydems @Chol_4Congress @samrobertsny @LGBTEqCaucus @VictoryFund @cnypride @TheDemocrats @SenateDems @HouseDemocrats @CNYCentral @syracusedotcom @lgbtcsa Let’s be clear, Francis puts lots of things on his website, like being against dark money & for fighting climate change. His promises aren’t worth the crypto-funded paper they’re printed on. With that said, egregious error on our part that this wasn’t a core portion of our site.

The time passed for Francis to disavow this money. They’ve already bought mailers & tv ads for him. He made his back room deal. It’s not too late for CNY to press Conole to back SEC regulating crypto & to protect CNY & our planet from the environmental disaster of crypto mining

@BeltProgressive @RonKlopfanstein If you look at a map of the PAC’s donations, it aligns pretty closely with states that are heavily into bitcoin mining. Conole didn’t even add a Pandemic section to his page until a few weeks before the money was spent on ads and mailers. No, I don’t think it’s about pandemics

@BeltProgressive @RonKlopfanstein Let me clarify a few things: I’m not anti-crypto. I’m anti-crypto using massive amounts of energy and possibly harming our environment and making sure those things are taken care of before anything else moves ahead. I’m also for the SEC regulating crypto.
